Unicorns: Historic, Majestic and Colour-full creatures
The unicorn—a mythological animal with the body of a horse (or sometimes a goat) and a single horn on its forehead—has been captivating imaginations for centuries.
Magical Origins
Unicorns first appeared in early Mesopotamian art and feature in ancient myths from India and China, proving that this legendary creature has always had serious magical staying power.
Unicorns often get credited to Greek Mythology but it was first seen in Greek historical writing (ie. not made up stories) from centuries BC.
Whether or not the unicorn was real… well I guess we don’t have hard proof they existed. It’s thought the animal described was in fact a kind of antelope.
Sigh. The quest continues…
🦄 Fun Unicorn Fact 🦄
Unicorns are the national animal of Scotland.
The unicorn horn is a symbol of purity and healing.
And well obviously, only a majestic, mythical creature could represent a nation as cool as Scotland… I think Jamie Fraser would approve!
